Description
The Assistant Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage a team, and the capacity to provide strategic financial insights to support business objectives. The Finance Manager will collaborate with senior management to drive financial performance, optimize financial resources, and ensure financial stability for the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS). Ensure all reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
- Lead the budgeting process, working with various departments to develop accurate and realistic financial plans. Monitor and update forecasts throughout the year, providing insights on variances and corrective actions.
- Perform detailed financial analysis to assess business performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to management. Conduct variance analysis between actual results and budget/forecast.
- Monitor the company’s cash flow position, manage liquidity, and recommend strategies to optimize working capital. Ensure the business maintains adequate liquidity to support operational needs.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and corporate policies. Oversee risk management activities, including financial risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals. Provide guidance and support to ensure the team meets deadlines, maintains high accuracy, and continuously improves processes.
- Design and implement effective internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
- Collaborate with senior management to provide financial insights that support strategic planning and decision-making. Assist in evaluating new business opportunities and investments.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, providing all necessary documentation and ensuring a smooth audit process. Oversee tax reporting and compliance, working with external tax advisors as needed.
- Lead the continuous improvement of financial systems and processes, ensuring automation and efficiency in financial operations.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field. CA Inter would be preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in finance or accounting and overseeing financial operations.
- Experience in cocoa commodity industry would be an advantage.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MS D365). Familiarity with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) software is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage and develop a team, fostering collaboration and high performance.
- Strong ability to analyse complex financial data, identify trends, and offer actionable insights for decision-making.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- High level of accuracy and precision when working with financial data and reporting.
