PaySika is hiring a Head of Finance

 

As the inaugural Head of Finance for our branch in Cameroon, your objective is to establish the entire financial framework for a rapidly expanding fintech. You will be responsible for maintaining liquidity, ensuring tax and regulatory adherence, and streamlining operations through automation. This role is both strategic and operational, requiring a close collaboration with the executive team and shareholders to enhance capital efficiency and stakeholder confidence.

Core responsibilities:
• Strategic Financial Management:
  – Generate monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and variance reports;
  – Develop comprehensive budgets and dynamic rolling forecasts;
  – Deploy a KPI dashboard covering net revenue, margins, CAC, LTV, and churn;
  – Evaluate team performance regarding costs, marketing ROI, and product profitability.

  • Treasury and Liquidity Control:
    – Maintain rigorous weekly and monthly cash flow projections;
    – Oversee bank relations, digital wallets, and funds in transit;
      – Enforce spending discipline through caps and approval workflows;
      – Negotiate favorable payment terms with vendors and partners;
      – Formulate strategies for pre-funding card wallets to prevent service interruptions.
  • Fintech Transaction Monitoring:
    – Map complex financial flows including top-ups, commissions, and chargebacks;
    – Standardize reconciliation processes between internal ledgers, PSPs, and banks;
      – Minimize delays and financial discrepancies;
      – Optimize flow profitability by monitoring FX rates and fees.
  • Governance, Tax, and Internal Audit:
    – Supervise internal/external accounting, payroll, and fiscal declarations;
    – Manage the monthly closing cycle and provisions;
      – Deploy internal controls (segregation of duties, audit trails);
      – Coordinate financial and regulatory audits;
      – Support regulatory approval processes with financial modeling.
  • Investor Relations and Capital Raising:
    – Maintain an updated data room and produce board-level reporting;
    – Lead financial due diligence and Q&A sessions;
      – Implement a “Single Source of Truth” (SSOT) using automation or AI-driven BI tools.
  • Group and Regional Structuring:
    – Standardize reporting across multiple entities and OHADA charts of accounts;
    – Manage intercompany agreements and treasury recharges;
      – Monitor regulatory compliance for regional expansion.
  • Leadership and Systems:
    – Recruit and manage the finance department (FP&A, treasury, accounting);
    – Oversee the implementation of an ERP integrated with the fintech backend.

Required candidate profile:
• Professional Experience: 5 to 7+ years in finance, including 2 to 3 years within a high-growth startup or a Big 4 audit firm in the CEMAC region;
• Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of OHADA standards and COBAC regulations;
• Tool Mastery: Expert-level financial modeling in Excel or Google Sheets;
• Linguistic Skills: Full professional fluency in both French and English;
• Must possess a “hands-on” mindset, capable of switching between board meetings and detailed account reconciliations.
